While you may want to only buy real estate from someone that is using a real estate professional, the truth is that you can save thousands of dollars when you buy a home from someone that is selling for sale by owner. The reason is that they current owner of the home does not have to pay any real estate sales commisson to the realtor or real estate agent, so they can afford to sell their house for less. This means you can get the home for much less money. And you can still use a realtor yourself if you want to. You will have to make arrangements as to how they will be paid, but you can agree to pay them a fee for helping you with the purchase of your new home. FSBO or for sale by owner sales are getting to be more and more common.
